Early Voting 2006 Seems to be a Shadow of 2004 Showing
State Rep. Adam Hasner, who won’t be on the ballot until the Nov. 7 election, said he didn’t see the long lines at early voting polls the way he did in 2004. Two years ago - the first time the legislature-approved early voting was tried - lines were long and tempers short. People had to stand in the heat - and several people passed out. Officials frequently had to distribute water to those in line. »Read More

‘It’s in the Economy’ Says Hasner
For State Rep. Adam Hasner (R-Delray Beach) there is no “quick fix” to the question of affordable housing.” There isn’t even a near-term comprehensive solution, he said, and the major element in any long-term solution is “the economy.”
“We must address this issue with comprehensive solutions, and not just quick fixes,” he told The Boca Raton News. “Part of that,” he said, “is our mission to grow and diversify our economic in bio-medical — and that’s just the beginning.” »Read More

Faiths Unite in Prayers for Israel
While rockets continued to fall over parts of the Middle East Tuesday evening, dozens of people packed into a small room at the West Palm Beach Chabad to recite prayers, console each other and above all to show their support for the state of Israel. With Democrats and Republicans, Christians and Jews, and young and old in attendance, the solidarity rally sought to cross everyday boundaries. The message of the evening - a call for action and support for the state of Israel.
State Rep. Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, bore a message of solidarity from President Bush. He also reminded those gathered that he had sponsored a resolution to condemn terrorism that was unanimously passed by the state House of Representatives. »Read More

Firearms Safety Issue: Another South Floridian is Hit by a Falling Bullet During a Holiday Celebration
In Margate, as Becky Wursten watched the Fourth of July fireworks from a lawn chair in a neighbor’s backyard, a bullet fell from the sky and pierced her shoulder. It’ll take surgery to remove it. Two other Broward County families narrowly escaped similar injuries when bullets fell through the ceilings of their homes and punctured the floor.
State Rep. Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, is preparing a bill for next year, and he’ll need support from police chiefs across the state. Because common sense isn’t working, and a misdemeanor doesn’t quite communicate the gravity of the danger. »Read More

Johnson’s Decisions Aren’t for the Best
State Rep. Adam Hasner has been trying to promote a bill to have all schools in Florida spend 65 percent of every dollar in the classroom. That sounds logical. It would limit our superintendent’s prerogative to hire more administrators or more educational consultants who, so far, haven’t done anything to get our students out of the bottom half of all Florida schools. It would keep superintendents from making decisions, like this one, that are not in the best interests of our children in Palm Beach County. »Read More

Legislative Report Card
Hasner had his best and most ambitious legislative performance. His session included a bold attempt to revamp the state’s school financing scheme. The “65 percent solution” classroom-funding plan, which would have required school districts to spend 65 percent of their total revenue on classroom-only expenditures, drew praise from conservative political leaders but was not adopted. Otherwise, he successfully fought for millions for several medical research projects and regional priorities, including new programs and operations budget increases for Florida Atlantic University. His fourth year in the Legislature included a failed attempt to reposition the Scripps Florida labs to his district in south Palm Beach County. »Read More

FLA.-Israel Institute Might Get Cash Boost
Rep. Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, lobbied for the institute to get more money this year because of South Florida’s strong tie with Israel and its large Jewish population. Although the $200,000 is nonrecurring, if the program is a success it could push legislators to keep the money in next year’s budget, Hasner said.. »Read More
