Florida House advances anti-gang legislation

Responding to a surge in gang violence, especially in gang-plagued Palm Beach County, the Legislature took a major step Tuesday to enacting a tougher, broader approach to addressing the problem. “This is a form of domestic terrorism,” said state Rep. Adam Hasner, R-Boca Raton, who sponsored the bill (HB 1363). “These people are taking over the streets and becoming a real threat. Confronted with the twin evils of genocide and nuclear proliferation, a bipartisan coalition of South Florida legislators is trying to put the state’s money where its morals are. Hasner helps arrange screening of film about Islamic terrorists

Rep. Adam Hasner, a Delray Beach Republican, was so impressed with the documentary Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West that he has helped arrange a free screening for state legislators on April 16. The controversial film shows an “insider’s view’ of the hatred the Radicals are teaching, their incitement of global jihad, and their goal of world domination.” But the film, parts of which have aired on cable news channels, has drawn protests on some college campuses, and at least two colleges canceled showings.
